AI conversational UX design for guided personal growth.
AI-powered conversational web experience guiding users through personal growth questions. Designed and built by David Langarica using conversational UI and Next.js.
My role was to design the interface, build the front end, and shape the prompt architecture behind the interaction. The challenge was not only technical, but editorial: making the experience feel thoughtful, coherent, and responsibly framed.
The challenge
The main challenge was designing an AI interaction that felt intentional rather than gimmicky. For a topic like masculinity, the conversation design had to avoid generic responses, reduce the risk of shallow advice, and create a tone that felt grounded and respectful.
Conversation design
This project depended on prompt design as much as UI. The system had to guide users toward meaningful conversation while keeping outputs relevant, clear, and aligned with the intended tone of the product.
What was delivered
I delivered the UI design, front-end implementation, and prompt framework for the conversational experience, using Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and the Google Gemini API as the foundation for the product.
Reflection
This project reinforced that AI products are shaped as much by framing and interaction design as by model capability. A better interface and clearer prompt structure can dramatically improve how trustworthy and useful the experience feels.
